Elspeth McLean is an award winning artist born and raised in Gooseberry Hill, a small leafy suburb in the foothills of Western Australia. Since a child, Elspeth has expressed her ideas, experiences and passion for life through art. When she was 19 her gypsy spirit and need to explore brought her to the East Coast of Australia where she began her journey as a full time artist. “Ocean Stones” is a series of amazing painted pebbles created by covering the stones found on the New Zealand beaches with a multitude of small colored dots, creating some beautiful patterns and gradients. She’s influenced by nature, animals, the changing seasons, and her world travels with a musician husband.
Painting is my way to find my ‘happy place’ and color is a way to express and celebrate the colors of my soul. Looking at my art from over the years it is very evident that my art becomes like a storybook into my life- where I was, what I was doing, what inspired and interested me at that time.
