Harvard University’s scientists have developed microstructures of the size of a hair that self-assemble from a solution of chemicals and minerals. If they have tested the technique on flower shapes, they can change the form taken by the structures by varying the temperature, pH or other parameters.
This technology could find practical applications in areas such as optics, catalysis or electronics.
